North Carolina has won 18 of the last 19 meetings between the two on the gridiron, with the series relatively even before that point.

Their school name, The Blue Devils, comes from the French �les Diables Blues�E named after one of their most mountain infantry divisions which successfully fought in the French Alps during the First World War. The Blue Devils mascot is based more on the name as it is, than what it�s based on, being literally a blue devil with horns and a long goatee.

Duke has spawned a number of successful amateur and professional athletes. A number of Olympic gold medal winners have come from Duke,customized bobbleheads, usually in team events.
